According to report reaching oyogist.com, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has called on the Department of State Service (DSS) to investigate what led to the recent attack on Abolongo correctional centre in state.

Recall that the correctional centre was attacked few weeks ago by some gunmen.

Our correspondent recalls that all the awaiting trial inmates who were at the facility were set freed by the attackers.

Two security agents died as a result of the incident.

They included a solider and Amotekun operative.

However, 262 of the inmates were recaptured few hours after the attack.

Makinde, has, however, appealed to DSS to commence investigation so as to unravel the misery behind the attack.

Makinde made this declaration on Thursday, in Ibadan.

The governor, while receiving the new head of DSS in the state, Mr. Agada Alex in his office, said that he wants the security agency to get to the bottom of what led to the jailbreak at the correctional centre.

Makinde, while speaking further, pledged that his administration would continue to provide necessary support to security agencies in the state.

He said, “Let me, on behalf of people and Government of Oyo State, welcome you formally to Ibadan.

“People are talking about the security situation in the state but it is stable because you have been up and doing.

“So, we want to appreciate your efforts. I do know that we have good relationship between the DSS and the government and even all the other agencies like Amotekun and Operation Burst.

“Let me request that we should try to maintain that cordial relationship. The work is cut out for you in Oyo State.

“Yes, it is stable but a lot of work is still required to stay on top of the situation. I can only promise that, as an administration, we will continue to provide the necessary support.”

“I am still interested in the service assisting to get to the bottom of what has happened in there.”
