Breaking: Pope Francis’ Personal Doctor, Fabrizio Soccorsi, Dies of COVID-19

According to report reaching oyogist.com, the personal Doctor of Catholic Pope Francis, Fabrizio Soccorsi, has reportedly died from Covid-19 complications.

Fabrizio Soccorsi, a 78 years old physician, who was being treated for an “oncological pathology,” was said to have died at the Gemelli Hospital, Rome, according to information gotten from Vatican newspaper L’Osservatore Romano.

Soccorsi, was named the personal physician of the of Pope Francis in August 2015, after the Pope refused renewing the term of the papal doctor, Patrizio Polisca, who then happened to be the head Vatican’s healthcare services.

Pope Francis was said to have diverged from the Roman Catholic custom by choosing Fabrizio Soccorsi, a doctor from outside the Vatican as his personal physician.

Soccorsi, a trained medicine and surgery expert, was trained at the Rome’s La Sapienza University with a high concentration in areas of hepatology, the digestive system, and immunology. He was also part council of medical experts at the Congregation for the Causes of the Saints at the Vatican.
