According to reports reaching Oyogist.com, the chief executive officer of lead pharmaceutical company, BioNTech has assured UK residents that its coronavirus vaccine would resist the recent UK variant.
The new variant, which was first discovered in London, UK has raised fears worldwide because of signs that it may spread more easily.
“We don’t know at the moment if our vaccine is also able to provide protection against this new variant,” BioNTech CEO, Ugur Sahin said during a news conference.
“But scientifically, it is highly likely that the immune response by this vaccine also can deal with the new virus variants.” he said.
