Nollywood actress and filmmaker Destiny Etiko has made an emotional appeal to Nigerians and well-meaning individuals to support actor and director Ikechukwu Nweke, who is currently battling colon cancer. She described the illness as a burden that no one should have to face alone.
Etiko shared a heartfelt video showing Nweke receiving treatment in the hospital. In the video, the actor revealed that he was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2025 and initially chose to keep his condition private while relying on the support of family members and colleagues in the entertainment industry.
According to Nweke, the financial burden of treatment has become overwhelming. He disclosed that he has already undergone surgery and is currently receiving chemotherapy, adding that he has exhausted his life savings and even sold some of his belongings to continue paying for medical care.
Destiny Etiko explained that over ₦15 million has already been spent on his treatment, but doctors have recommended further care requiring an additional ₦17 million. She urged Nigerians to contribute whatever they can, stressing that every donation could help save the actor’s life.
The appeal has sparked an outpouring of prayers and messages of support from fans and fellow entertainers, with many expressing hope that Nweke will recover and overcome the disease.
