Apple has officially filed a blockbuster lawsuit against OpenAI and two prominent former employees.

The complaint, filed today in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, alleges a systematic, months-long conspiracy to misappropriate Apple’s closely guarded hardware and trade secrets to fuel OpenAI’s unannounced entry into the consumer AI gadgets market.

According to court documents, Apple claims that OpenAI deliberately and methodically orchestrated the theft of confidential intellectual property.

The iPhone maker asserts that OpenAI target-hired key Apple talent, instructing them to exfiltrate highly sensitive data regarding unreleased products, component designs, proprietary manufacturing processes, and strategic vendor relationships.
