OYOGist.com has learned that Gov. Nyesom Wike, Governor of Rivers State has reportedly declared that he is not at war with the Igbos but members of the Indigeneous People of Biafra, IPOB.

The Governor made the clarification when he played host to Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) today, Friday at the Government House, Port Harcourt.

According to him, those who did not understand his actions beleive he is at war with Igbos in Rivers State.

“Those who don’t understand our actions are saying we are fighting the Igbo.”

He alleged that IPOB members hijacked the #EndSARS protest in the state and raked havock on public and private facilities.

Justifying his recent executive order banning the group, he accused its members of killing six army officers and four policemen, burning police stations and court buildings.

“I don’t support criminality. IPOB killed six army officers, four policemen, burnt police stations and court buildings. This is Rivers State. Go to Oyigbo and see the level of destruction”, he said.

The Governor wondered why the group failed to channel whatever grievances they have against the Government to the right quarters but resulted to killing innocent citizens and destroying public property.

He noted that Government will be forced to use meagre resources it has in rebuilding infrastructure damaged by IPOB members.
