OYOGist.com has learned that a short drama ensued yesterday at the National Assembly Joint Committee on Niger Delta Affairs after the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Prof. Kemebradikumo Pondei, was unable to account for missing N143billion in its 2019 budget.

Professor Pondei led members of the Interim Committee of the NDDC to the National Assembly Joint committee to analyze and defend its 2019 expenditures and also present its 2020 budget proposal but it didn’t go all smooth as there was a shortfall of N143 billion.

During the session, professor pondei told the lawmakers that the Commission received a total of N305.5 billion as revenue in 2019 and spent a total of N122 billion. According to him all that was remaining was a balance of N183.2 billion.

The Chairman of House of Representatives Committee on NDDC, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, asked why there was an unaccounted for N143 Bilion, after a brief heated argument between him and professor pondei, the later asked that the 2019 budget details be withdrawn so as to enable the Commission to address the N143 billion discrepancy.
