The Nigerian Senate has threatened to issue a warrant for the Minister of Labor and Culture; Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Minister of State for Petroleum; Timipre Sylva and the Minister of Power; Engr. Saleh Mamman, as reported by PUNCH.

The Senate says it will issue a warrant for three ministers for refusing to respond to an invitation to seek comment on any funding scams at their ministries.

The chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, Senator Matthew Urhoghide of the People’s Democratic Party, Edo South, made the disclosure during a news conference.

Urhoghide said the council would not hesitate to use its powers to issue summonses to all who refused to accept the invitation. He said it was shameful and unfortunate that some of the people in charge of ministries, institutions and government agencies were not responding to her request.

The senator said anyone who needs to be briefed on the money he have spent in the ministry they should be calm enough to do so for safely. He said the committee had no choice but to use force to force those who refused to accept the parliament call in terms of section 89 of the constitution.
