Dangote Refinery’s Petrol Claims vs Regulator Data: What the Numbers Mean for Prices

Nigeria’s Fuel Supply in Focus as Dangote and Regulator Clash Over Petrol Output

Nigeria’s downstream oil sector is back in the spotlight following contrasting claims about local petrol production from the Dangote Refinery and the country’s downstream regulator. The disagreement has sparked renewed debate over how much of Nigeria’s fuel needs can realistically be met locally as the year draws to a close.

Dangote Projects Higher Local Output

Dangote Refinery says it is positioned to supply roughly 1.5 billion litres of petrol per month in December 2025 and January 2026. From February, output is expected to climb to about 1.7 billion litres monthly, translating to nearly 50 million litres per day.

According to the refinery, these volumes would significantly narrow Nigeria’s fuel supply gap, especially during periods of high demand. Dangote has also invited regulators to physically verify production levels and pledged to publish clearer data on output and inventory to build confidence in its numbers.

Regulator Cites Lower Supply Figures

The downstream regulator, however, has presented a more conservative picture. Officials say verified daily supply from local refining remains below estimated national consumption, suggesting that domestic output alone may not yet be sufficient to meet demand.

This divergence in figures has raised questions about measurement methods, reporting standards and the need for independent verification to align expectations across the market.

Imports Still Part of the Equation

Despite growing local capacity, Nigeria has not completely shut out fuel imports. Private marketers are still expected to bring in refined products when domestic supply falls short, acting as a buffer against shortages.

If Dangote’s higher production targets are consistently achieved, import volumes could decline during the busy travel season, reducing pressure on pump prices and lowering the risk of queues at filling stations.

What It Means for Prices and Businesses

Sustained local supply at higher levels could offer relief to transport operators, logistics companies and fast-moving consumer goods distributors by easing fuel-related cost pressures. It could also help dampen inflation linked to energy and distribution expenses.

On the other hand, if output aligns more closely with the regulator’s lower estimates, fuel prices will remain sensitive to global crude oil movements, shipping costs and foreign exchange availability.

A More Competitive Downstream Market

Beyond volumes alone, the situation highlights a broader shift in Nigeria’s downstream sector toward greater competition and scrutiny. Accurate data, transparency and independent verification are becoming central to pricing decisions and public trust.

For businesses planning ahead, the coming weeks will be critical. Monitoring verified daily supply figures, tracking crude and blending input logistics, and building flexible fuel budgets for Q1 2026 could help manage uncertainty as the market adjusts.

4 Big Political Scandals in Nigeria in 2025

From Forged Certificates to Power Struggles: Nigerian Political Scandals That Defined 2025

Nigerian politics in 2025 was anything but quiet. Rather than landmark legislation or sweeping reforms dominating the agenda, the year was marked by controversy, investigations and internal power tussles. Several high-profile politicians—many linked to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)—found themselves at the centre of scandals that kept the public glued to the headlines.

These episodes reshaped political conversations, raised fresh questions about accountability, and highlighted persistent weaknesses in institutional oversight. Below is a clear breakdown of four major political scandals that shaped Nigeria’s political climate in 2025.

The Uche Nnaji Certificate Controversy

The most explosive resignation of the year came in October when Uche Nnaji, then Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, stepped down amid allegations that he submitted forged academic certificates during his 2023 screening.

An investigative report by a national newspaper claimed discrepancies in the documents Nnaji presented for his ministerial appointment. The story spread rapidly, forcing a swift response from the Presidency. Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga confirmed the resignation and relayed Nnaji’s assertion that he was being targeted through political sabotage.

Nnaji denied all allegations, maintaining that his degree in Microbiology/Biochemistry from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) was authentic. Nevertheless, the incident reignited debates around background checks for public office holders and exposed gaps in Nigeria’s vetting processes.

Sexual Harassment Claim Rocks the Senate

Nigeria’s Senate became a focal point of national attention after Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan submitted a petition accusing Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment.

The allegation sparked widespread debate and drew reactions from civil society groups, gender advocates and political stakeholders. However, instead of disciplinary action against Akpabio, the Senate voted to suspend Natasha for six months—a decision many viewed as controversial and punitive.

Akpabio firmly rejected the allegation, stating publicly that he had never harassed any woman. Although Natasha later returned to the Senate after serving her suspension, the episode left lingering questions about power imbalance, due process and how sensitive allegations are handled within Nigeria’s legislature.

EFCC Declares Timipre Sylva Wanted

Anti-corruption headlines followed former Minister of State for Petroleum Timipre Sylva after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) issued a public notice declaring him wanted.

The commission alleged that Sylva was linked to the diversion of roughly $15 million earmarked for the construction of an oil refinery. The EFCC called on the public to provide information on his whereabouts, intensifying scrutiny on the former minister.

Sylva responded forcefully, accusing the agency of unlawfully raiding his Abuja residence. He described the EFCC’s actions as politically motivated and shared his objections publicly, further fuelling the controversy. The standoff kept Nigerians watching closely as legal and political tensions mounted.

Lagos Assembly Crisis: Obasa’s Exit and Comeback

Lagos State politics delivered one of the year’s most dramatic storylines. In January, Mudashiru Obasa, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, was impeached while he was out of the state. More than 90% of lawmakers voted him out, citing allegations of misconduct and abuse of office.

His deputy, Mojisola Meranda, was immediately installed as Speaker. However, the move reportedly unsettled key APC figures, with sources suggesting that President Bola Tinubu was displeased that the impeachment occurred without wider party consultation.

Political negotiations intensified behind closed doors, and by March, Meranda stepped aside. Lawmakers reinstated her as Deputy Speaker and restored Obasa to his former position in what was framed as a political compromise.

Upon returning, Obasa called for reconciliation within the Assembly and pledged renewed focus on governance, bringing an uneasy end to a saga that exposed deep internal rifts within Lagos politics.

A Year Defined by Controversy

Together, these scandals underscored how much of Nigeria’s political energy in 2025 was consumed by crises rather than reform. They also reinforced public calls for stronger institutions, greater transparency and clearer accountability standards across all levels of government.

As the country moves forward, the events of 2025 remain a reminder that political credibility is increasingly shaped not just by promises, but by integrity under scrutiny.

Duffy stars with ball as New Zealand claim dominant win over West Indies

Duffy’s Five-For Powers New Zealand to Dominant Test Win Over West Indies

Jacob Duffy delivered a match-defining spell as New Zealand sealed a commanding nine-wicket victory over the West Indies in the second Test, skittling the visitors for 128 on day three. The win gives the Black Caps a 1-0 lead in the three-match series after the opening Test ended in a draw.

Chasing a modest target of 56, New Zealand wrapped up the match inside 10 overs, reaching 57-1 with ease to underline their dominance at the Basin Reserve.

Duffy Delivers Again Under Pressure

Duffy finished with figures of 5-38, his second five-wicket haul of the series, as West Indies struggled to cope with sustained pressure from a depleted New Zealand bowling attack. Despite fielding a weakened pace unit, the hosts restricted the tourists to a slender overall lead of just 55 runs after New Zealand had trailed by 73 in the first innings.

The fast bowler shouldered a heavy workload once again, sending down 17.2 overs in the second innings after bowling extensively earlier in the match. His consistency proved decisive as wickets fell steadily through the morning session.

Clinical Chase Seals the Result

New Zealand wasted little time finishing the job. Devon Conway remained unbeaten on 28, while Kane Williamson made 16 not out, striking a boundary off Anderson Phillip to clinch victory shortly before the tea interval. Captain Tom Latham was the only casualty, departing for nine.

Debutants Shine in Injury-Hit Side

The win was made more impressive by the performances of debutants Michael Rae and Mitch Hay. Hay top-scored in the match with a fluent 61 in New Zealand’s first innings total of 278, while Rae impressed with the ball, claiming match figures of 6-106.

New Zealand’s bowling resources were stretched thin following injuries to Matt Henry, Will O’Rourke, and Nathan Smith, alongside the absence of Kyle Jamieson and Ben Sears. Matters worsened when Blair Tickner dislocated his shoulder after taking 4-32 in the first innings.

West Indies Falter After Bright Start

After being sent in on a lively surface, the West Indies were bowled out for 205 in their first innings, with Shai Hope making 47 and John Campbell contributing 44. Despite the pitch offering pace and bounce throughout, the visitors failed to capitalise.

Their second innings never gained momentum. Resuming at 32-2, the collapse accelerated after Brandon King was run out for 22, triggering a slide to 98-6 by lunch. Duffy’s successful review to remove Justin Greaves proved a turning point.

Captains Reflect as Series Moves On

“I thought the way the guys bowled today was outstanding,” Duffy said after the match. “Given everything we’ve dealt with, it was a complete team effort.”

West Indies skipper Roston Chase admitted batting remains a concern. “We didn’t make the most of the conditions. We got starts, but no one went on to build an innings, especially in the second innings,” he said.

With confidence high after a convincing display, New Zealand will look to carry momentum into the third Test, which begins later in December, as they aim to close out the series in style.

Florida TikTok Star Girlalala Killed in Alleged Domestic Shooting as Rapper JT Helps With Funeral Costs

A young Florida woman widely known online as Girlalala has been shot and killed following what authorities describe as a violent argument with her boyfriend. The incident has sent shockwaves through South Florida’s transgender community and across social media.

Deadly Argument Inside a Vehicle

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to an emergency call on Friday night in Lauderdale Lakes. When officers arrived, they found Girlalala suffering from gunshot wounds while seated in the passenger seat of a vehicle.

She was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment but later died from her injuries.

Boyfriend Arrested at the Scene

Police say Girlalala’s longtime boyfriend, Shanoyd Whyte Jr., was taken into custody at the scene. Investigators allege the couple had been arguing inside the car when the dispute escalated into gun violence.

A firearm was recovered from the vehicle, and Whyte has been charged with first-degree murder. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing.

A Beloved Voice in the Transgender Community

Girlalala was a well-known and loved figure within South Florida’s transgender community. She had also built a loyal following on TikTok, where she frequently shared videos of herself rapping along to music.

One of her favourite artists was JT, one-half of the rap duo City Girls, whose songs regularly featured in her posts.

Rapper JT Steps In to Help

Two US soldiers and interpreter killed by IS gunman in Syria, US military says

  • Two US Soldiers and Civilian Killed in Islamic State Ambush in Syria

Two American troops and a US civilian interpreter have been killed in central Syria following a deadly ambush attributed to the Islamic State (IS), according to the US Central Command (Centcom).

Three additional US service members were wounded in the attack, while Syrian state media reported that two Syrian personnel were also injured. The assailant was shot dead during the incident.

Attack Occurred During Joint Engagement in Palmyra

The ambush took place in Palmyra, a city in central Syria, while US forces were conducting what Pentagon officials described as a “key leader engagement.” Centcom said the attack was carried out by a lone IS gunman.

A Pentagon spokesperson confirmed the incident is under investigation, noting that it occurred in an area outside the Syrian president’s control.

    Trump Vows Retaliation

US President Donald Trump described the incident as an “ISIS attack” on both US and Syrian forces and warned of a strong response.

“There will be a very serious retaliation,” Trump wrote on social media, adding that the wounded American personnel were “doing well.”

US and Syrian Officials Condemn the Assault

US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth issued a stern warning, saying any group targeting Americans would face relentless consequences.

Syria’s Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani condemned the attack, offering condolences to the victims’ families and reaffirming Syria’s opposition to terrorism.

US envoy to Syria Tom Barrack described the incident as a “cowardly terrorist ambush” and reiterated Washington’s commitment to working alongside Syrian partners to defeat extremist groups.

    Conflicting Claims Over the Attacker

While US officials identified the attacker as an IS gunman, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights claimed the assailant was a member of Syrian security forces. No group has formally claimed responsibility, and the attacker’s identity has not been released.

US Presence and the Ongoing Fight Against IS

American troops have been stationed in Syria since 2015 as part of an international campaign to combat Islamic State, focusing on training local forces and disrupting militant operations.

Although IS lost its last territorial stronghold in Syria in 2019, the United Nations estimates the group still maintains between 5,000 and 7,000 fighters across Syria and Iraq, capable of carrying out sporadic attacks.

    Fragile Security Despite Diplomatic Shifts

The attack comes just weeks after Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa met with Trump at the White House, signalling what Damascus described as a “new era” in relations.

Syria recently joined an international coalition against IS and pledged closer cooperation with the US, but the latest violence highlights how fragile security conditions remain.

‘Worst 48 hours’ since I joined Chelsea

by Ayodeji Onibalusi December 17, 2025
written by Ayodeji Onibalusi

“Worst 48 Hours”: Maresca Lifts Lid on Chelsea Pressure After Everton Win

Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has admitted that the days leading up to his side’s 2–0 Premier League victory over Everton were the most difficult he has faced since taking charge at Stamford Bridge.

Despite goals from Cole Palmer and Malo Gusto restoring Chelsea to the league’s top four, the Italian manager delivered an unexpected and emotional message during his post-match press conference.

A Win That Didn’t Ease the Frustration

The result followed a draining period for Chelsea, coming shortly after a defeat to Atalanta in the Champions League that stretched their winless run to four matches. While the victory over Everton appeared to steady the ship, Maresca revealed that external criticism had weighed heavily on him and the squad.

“The players’ desire to learn and improve has been unbelievable,” he said. “That’s why I keep praising them. With all the problems we’ve had, they are still performing after a very complicated week.”

He then added pointedly: “Since I arrived here, the last 48 hours have been the worst because many people didn’t support us.”

“People Didn’t Support the Team”

When pressed to explain who he was referring to, Maresca declined to single out individuals or groups, responding only that it was “in general.” He was quick, however, to distance Chelsea supporters from the criticism.

“I love the fans,” he stressed. “We are very happy with the fans.”

The message suggested frustration with the broader narrative surrounding Chelsea’s recent performances rather than discontent within the club itself.

Injuries, Suspensions and a Young Squad

Maresca also used the moment to underline the scale of Chelsea’s challenges this season, pointing to long absences and suspensions involving some of his most important players.

He noted that the Blues have played large portions of the campaign without key figures such as Cole Palmer, Moises Caicedo and Liam Delap, while defender Levi Colwill has been sidelined for the entire season.

“We’ve played 16 Premier League games,” Maresca explained. “Five without Moises, 11 without Cole, and almost all without Liam. Yet no matter who steps in, the squad has been fantastic.”

Calling for Perspective

The Chelsea boss reiterated that his team is a work in progress, built around the youngest squad in the Premier League. He urged observers to recognise the effort being put in behind the scenes rather than focusing solely on short-term results.

“Cole is our best player, everyone knows that,” he said. “But we’ve played most of the season without him. That’s why I want people outside the club to appreciate what these players are doing.”

A Project Still Ahead of Schedule

Maresca’s comments came despite a record that suggests steady progress. In his first season, he delivered trophies in the Club World Cup and Conference League, while also guiding Chelsea back into the Champions League places.

He has repeatedly warned against premature title talk, insisting that this Chelsea is different from the trophy-driven era under previous ownership. Instead, he has framed his role as a long-term rebuild, similar to the early phases of Jürgen Klopp at Liverpool or Mikel Arteta at Arsenal.

Message Sent, Questions Remain

It remains unclear exactly what triggered Maresca’s remarks, but the timing was telling. Within 48 hours, Chelsea returned from Italy, trained once at Cobham, faced the media, and ended a difficult run with a convincing league win.

Club sources have downplayed the comments as an emotional response after an intense period, noting that Maresca is communicating in a second or third language. Still, his words suggested a manager keen to defend his players and reshape expectati

Belarus frees 123 prisoners as US lifts sanctions

by Ayodeji Onibalusi December 17, 2025

Belarus Releases 123 Political Prisoners After US Agrees to Ease Sanctions

Belarus has freed 123 detainees, including some of the country’s most recognisable opposition figures, following an agreement with the United States to roll back key economic sanctions.

Among those released are Maria Kolesnikova, a leading face of the 2020 protest movement, and Ales Bialiatski, a Nobel Peace Prize laureate and long-time human rights campaigner.

Sanctions Relief Tied to Prisoner Release

The breakthrough came after negotiations in Minsk involving John Coale, US President Donald Trump’s special envoy for Belarus. As part of the deal, Washington agreed to lift sanctions on potash, a major Belarusian export used in fertiliser production.

Coale described the move as part of a broader diplomatic reset, saying that as ties improve, additional sanctions could also be removed.

Kolesnikova Speaks After Years in Isolation

Kolesnikova, who had spent much of her detention in isolation since her arrest in 2020, spoke emotionally after regaining her freedom.

“It’s an incredible happiness,” she said, describing the simple joy of seeing the sunset and embracing loved ones again. However, she also stressed that many others remain behind bars.

“We think of those who are still imprisoned. I wait for the day when everyone is free and we can all embrace each other,” she added.

Transfer to Ukraine and Beyond

According to Ukraine’s Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, Kolesnikova and 113 others were transferred from Belarus into Ukraine. After medical checks, they are expected to be moved on to Poland and Lithuania.

A smaller group, including Bialiatski, was taken directly to Vilnius, where they were met by supporters and members of the Belarusian opposition in exile.

Opposition Reacts With Caution

Belarusian opposition leader-in-exile Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, who was waiting near the US embassy in Vilnius, said the decision to route most prisoners through Ukraine came as a surprise and was made by President Alexander Lukashenko.

After reuniting with Bialiatski, she reiterated that the struggle was far from over. “Thousands are still imprisoned,” he said. “This release is important, but the fight continues.”

A Diplomatic Win for Lukashenko

The agreement marks a significant political gain for Lukashenko, whose presidency is not recognised by the European Union or the United States following disputed elections in 2020.

Western sanctions were tightened further in 2022 after Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine using Belarusian territory. The easing of potash sanctions now signals a potential shift in Minsk’s international standing.

More High-Profile Releases

Also freed were opposition politician Viktor Babaryko, detained since 2020, and Marina Zolotova, editor-in-chief of the independent news outlet Tut.by. Their release adds to the significance of what is one of the largest single prisoner releases in recent years.

Sanctions as Leverage

Tikhanovskaya described the deal as proof that sanctions can force concessions from authoritarian governments. “Lukashenko doesn’t act out of goodwill,” she said. “He treats people as bargaining chips.”

She also noted that US sanctions policy remains flexible, warning that measures could be reimposed if commitments are not honoured.

A Shift in US Strategy

The engagement with Minsk represents a notable change in US foreign policy, contrasting sharply with Europe’s continued strategy of isolation. The US envoy also confirmed discussions with Lukashenko on Ukraine and Belarus’s potential role in future talks involving Russia.

While celebrations marked the prisoners’ release, opposition figures stress that meaningful change in Belarus will only come when political repression ends entirely.

Israel targets senior Hamas official in deadly Gaza strike

Israel Confirms Killing of Senior Hamas Weapons Chief in Gaza Strike

Targeted Attack in Gaza City

Israel has announced that it carried out a targeted strike in Gaza City on Saturday that resulted in the death of a senior Hamas military figure. According to a joint statement from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Shin Bet security agency, the operation struck a vehicle carrying Raed Saad, a top commander within Hamas’s armed wing, the Qassam Brigades.

Israeli authorities said Saad oversaw weapons manufacturing for Hamas and was one of the organisation’s most influential military leaders in Gaza.

Key Role in October 7 Attacks

Saad was widely regarded as a central figure in Hamas’s military hierarchy and is believed to have commanded several brigades during the 7 October 2023 assault on Israeli communities near Gaza City.

Israeli officials said he was responsible for the deaths of numerous Israeli soldiers, particularly through the use of improvised explosive devices deployed during fighting inside the Gaza Strip.

Casualties and Local Accounts

The Hamas-run Civil Defence agency reported that the strike killed four people in total. Spokesman Mahmoud Basal told the BBC that several bystanders were also wounded when the vehicle was hit.

A local Hamas source said Saad’s aide and another official, identified as Abu Imad al-Laban, were among those killed. Independent verification of these claims remains impossible, as international media are barred by Israel from operating freely inside Gaza.

A Longstanding Target

Raed Saad had been on Israel’s most-wanted list for years. Israeli forces are believed to have attempted to kill or capture him multiple times over the past two decades.

One of the most notable attempts occurred in March 2024, during a surprise Israeli raid in Gaza City. At the time, intelligence sources suggested Saad narrowly escaped shortly before Israeli troops stormed the targeted location.

Strike Amid Fragile Ceasefire

The attack took place on the Palestinian-controlled side of the so-called Yellow Line, which has divided Gaza since a fragile US-backed ceasefire came into force on 10 October.

Israeli forces currently control areas east of the line, accounting for just over half of the Gaza Strip, while tensions remain high despite the truce.

Leadership Vacuum and Military Council

Saad was believed to be a member of a newly formed five-person Hamas military leadership council created after the ceasefire began. His death is expected to further destabilise Hamas’s command structure in Gaza.

War Toll and Hostage Issue

The first phase of US President Donald Trump’s 20-point peace plan for the region focused on the return of hostages taken during the October 7 attack, in which around 1,200 people were killed and more than 250 abducted.

All hostages have since been returned except for the remains of Israeli police officer Ran Gvili, who is believed to have died while fighting Hamas militants.

Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry says that more than 70,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli military operations since the war began.

Next Phase of Trump’s Plan

Diplomatic attention is now shifting to the second stage of President Trump’s proposal, which calls for the disarmament of Hamas and the de-radicalisation of Gaza.

The plan envisions Gaza being administered by a temporary technocratic Palestinian committee under international oversight, with security provided by an International Stabilisation Force. The long-term goal is a return of control to a reformed Palestinian Authority and eventual Israeli withdrawal.

Political Uncertainty Ahead

Many aspects of the proposal remain controversial, particularly in Israel, where Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has consistently rejected the idea of a Palestinian state.

Trump is scheduled to meet Netanyahu in Washington on 29 December to discuss the future of the plan, amid escalating tensions and renewed violence on the ground.

Welcome to Channels Brief — your daily snapshot of the stories shaping Nigeria and the world. From security updates and political developments to football drama and faith-driven headlines, this edition delivers concise, credible news designed for a fast-moving global audience.

Whether you’re reading from Lagos, London, New York, Nairobi, or beyond, here’s what’s making headlines today.

Military Neutralises Terrorist Assault in Borno

Nigerian troops under Operation HADIN KAI successfully thwarted a coordinated attack by ISWAP fighters in Guzamala, Borno State. The insurgents attempted to breach a Forward Operating Base using two vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices (VBIEDs), both of which were intercepted and destroyed.

Security footage confirmed that several terrorists were killed, others critically injured, and key weapons and logistics recovered. The Nigerian Army reported no breach of the base, with intensified patrols now ongoing to reassure surrounding communities and maintain dominance in the area.

Premier League Boosts for Liverpool and Chelsea

Liverpool and Chelsea both enjoyed vital Premier League victories on Saturday, lifting morale as the race for Champions League places heats up.

At Anfield, Liverpool raced to a 2–0 win over Brighton, with Hugo Ekitike scoring inside the opening minute before doubling the lead from a Mohamed Salah corner. Salah’s return to action, after a week of speculation about his future, was greeted with loud cheers from the home crowd.

Meanwhile at Stamford Bridge, Cole Palmer marked his return to the starting lineup with a 21st-minute goal as Chelsea beat Everton 2–0. The result ended the Blues’ four-match winless run and pushed them back into the top four.

Army Dismantles Bandit Camps in Taraba

In a related security operation, troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, cleared bandit hideouts in Takum, Taraba State as part of efforts to protect farmers during the harvest season.

Working alongside hunters and local vigilantes, soldiers swept through Zambana Forest, disrupting criminal networks and securing farmlands. Brigade Commander Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa assured residents of sustained military presence and urged communities to continue sharing timely intelligence.

Oyedepo Reaffirms Rejection of Politics

Presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has reiterated that he will never venture into politics, regardless of financial incentives.

Speaking at Shiloh 2025, the cleric said even an offer of $1 billion would not sway him, describing politics as outside his divine calling. He urged believers to remain focused on their spiritual assignments, warning that entering arenas without a calling could lead to loss of dignity and purpose.

Wike Defends Long-Standing Support for Tinubu

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said he remains unapologetic about his support for President Bola Tinubu, insisting his loyalty is rooted in fairness and justice.

Speaking during his 58th birthday celebration, the former Rivers State governor recalled his political decisions during the 2023 elections and dismissed criticism as fuel for greater resolve. Allies praised his consistency, describing him as a key political force.

PDP Signals Readiness for 2027 Elections

Leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), led by National Chairman Taminu Turaki, paid a courtesy visit to former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, declaring the party prepared for the 2027 general elections.

Turaki said the PDP’s immediate focus would be reclaiming Ekiti and Osun states before challenging the ruling APC nationally. Party leaders described the visit as symbolic of renewal and urged unity, saying Nigerians were eager for an alternative.
