According to reports by the News Agency of Nigeria, a Chief Magistrate’s Court sitting in Lagos has ordered the arrest of popular afro-beats singer Adeyemi Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley over an alleged car theft.
The Chief Magistrate Mr Tajudeen Elias ordered the Investigating Police Officer in charge of the case, Sgt. Sunday Idoko to ensure that he is able to present Naira Marley before him on December 21st 2019 for hearing.
Two of Naira Marley’s brothers and one of his cousins was present in the court for the hearing on the alleged car and phone theft.
The defendants, 18 year old Idris Fashola, 24 year old Babatunde Fashola and 22 year old Kunle Obere will face a four counts of conspiracy, theft, assault and obstruction of arrest.
ASP Edet Okoi, the prosecuting officer told the court that the defendants committed the offense on 16th of December, 2019 near Eko Hotel roundabout in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The prosecutor said they were in a motorcade with Naira Marley when they stole the car, a Totota Camry sedan with registration ID FEE, 120 AA estimated to be worth one million, eight hundred thousand naira together with an iPhone XS valued at three hundred thousand naira owned by the plaintiff, Mr Adelekan Ademola.
The prosecutor also explained that the defendants and others in Naira Marley’s convoy also beat up the complainant. Babatunde and the rest of the members of Naira Marley’s motorcade also prevented thr police from arresting Naira Marley.
