Repentant bandits in Zamfara State have rescued 12 kidnapped victims and handed them over to the police.
In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Mohammed Shehu, said, “On 27th May 2020, the Zamfara State Peace Committee in collaboration with some repentant bandits have secured the release of twelve Kidnapped victims.”
Shehu said the victims were abducted about two weeks ago and were rescued when repentant bandits ambushed their unrepentant brothers.
In his remarks, the Commissioner of Police, Usman Nagogo, said the victims were rescued as a result of the fulfilment of a pledge made by the repentant bandits to fight their kinsmen who refused to surrender.

The commissioner commended the repentant bandits for the confidence they reposed in the state government and security agencies.
He called on them to sustain the tempo assuring them that the security agencies would continue to partner them to ensure peace and security in the state.
