The Katsina State Government has expanded its automatic employment policy for first-class graduates to include all indigenes of the state who earn first-class degrees from higher institutions across Nigeria.
Governor Dikko Radda announced the decision during the grand finale and award presentation of the maiden Katsina State Students’ Week held at Bayero University, Kano. According to the governor, the initiative is aimed at attracting exceptional talent into the state’s civil service and improving public sector efficiency.
Radda explained that the policy was initially introduced for first-class graduates from Umaru Musa Yar’adua University and other tertiary institutions within Katsina State. He said the programme has now been extended to all Katsina students graduating with first-class honours from any accredited higher institution in the country, beginning with the current academic year.
The governor expressed confidence that recruiting more outstanding graduates into the civil service would significantly strengthen governance and service delivery over the next decade, creating a workforce capable of competing with the best in Nigeria.
He also highlighted his administration’s commitment to education through the payment of outstanding scholarship obligations, increased bursary allowances, and investments aimed at reducing the number of out-of-school children.
According to him, the government has recruited over 10,000 teachers while constructing and rehabilitating schools across the state.
Governor Radda encouraged students to remain committed to academic excellence and contribute meaningfully to the development of Katsina State, noting that their achievements continue to inspire confidence in the state’s future.
The event attracted students from various higher institutions across Kano, Jigawa, Bauchi, Borno, and other states, with outstanding participants receiving awards for excellence in academic, sporting, and cultural activities.
