A handful of Nigerians are currently pleading with the Independent and National Electoral Commission to extend its deadline for registration of Voters, OyoGist Reports.

Although, the voters registration process was scheduled to end today, 30th may 2022, several Nigerians took to their social media pages to plead with the electoral commission for an extension.

Recall few hours ago, the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project Group (SERAP) also called on Professor Mahmood Yakubu, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to extend deadline for voter registration in Nigeria.

According to SERAP, the extension would “give more time for eligible Nigerians to exercise their right to participation the same way the electoral body has extended the deadline for party primaries”.

Recall Nigeria’s Electoral body made a U-turn last week by suddenly extending the deadline for the conduct of primaries by political parties by six days, from June 3 to June 9.
