According to report reaching oyogist.com, the Anambra state Governor, Willie Obiano, has reported urged religious clerics in the state to include the awareness of the Covid-19 pandemic in their sermons.

This was made known by the Governor in a letter written to the religious clerics in the state and was confirmed by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, C-Don Adinuba.

In the letter, the Governor warned that the state might see a huge surge in the number of Covid-19 infections if proper adequate measures aren’t taken into consideration.

The statement reads; “It is regrettable that hardly do people wear face masks or observe social distancing during ceremonies. Worse, there are huge numbers of people who deny the existence of the coronavirus, even when people well known to them, including priests and pastors, have died of it.

“It will be most appreciated if you address these developments in your homilies or sermons, which your followers take seriously. You can encourage your priests or pastors to do a similar thing. The campaign against COVID-19 will get a boost if you make wearing of face masks by all congregants compulsory during religious services.”
