OYOGist.com has learned that popular Nigerian journalist and show presenter Babajide Otitoju has weigh in on the issue of SARS brutality and call for an immediate end to its operation. While using his social media handle as a means of voicing out his opinion, the journalist disclosed that he had since joined the struggle towards ending SARS operation since last year.

Babajide stated that he has also heard people peddle news about how he is opposed to the campaign to end SARS saying that such news is “ignorance peddling”.

The journalist commended the Nigerian youths and other individuals who came out to protest and call for change while saluting their bravery.

In order to buttress some of the issues pertaining to SARS operation, Babajide outrightly disclaimed the popular statement that the End SARS protest going around the country is being perpetrated by cyber criminals “yahoo boys”.

In a bid to make it clearer, Babajide disclosed that his younger sister’s son who is based in Canada has been a victim of SARS harassment. According to Babajide, the young man is now scared of coming home to Nigeria.

He then went on to state emphatically that he won’t be sitting on the fence because anyone can be a victim of SARS harassment.

He wrote “My younger sister’s son who is based in Canada was a victim of SARS harassment. Now he’s scared of coming home. That is why I won’t sit on the fence. Anybody could be a victim. If you once fell a victim you would join the #EndSARSImmediately campaign in without hesitation.”

Babajide finally capped it up by addressing the issue of Yahoo boys being the ones behind the protest against SARS. He stated that most times, he has often heard people say that the #EndSars I being sponsored by Yahoo boys to get SARS to lay them off.

For him, this is a silly allegation that totally ignores the worrisome abuse from SARS and other police unit. He wrote “I have heard some people say the #EndSARS agitation is being sponsored by yahoo boys to get SARS to lay off them. This is a silly allegation that ignores the worrisome abuse by SARS operatives and other tactical police units.”

He however commended the Lagos State House of Assembly for its emergency meeting on Friday and for also passing a resolution to end SARS immediately.
