WAEC: How Exams Will Be Conducted – FG

The federal government on Monday have disclosed that the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) will begin next month. It said WASSCE subjects common to all English speaking countries of West Africa (Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, The Gambia, and Liberia) will start on August 17, oyogist.com reports.

The exam subjects composed distinctly by up-and-comers in Nigeria (Yoruba, Ibo, Hausa) will be taken from September 5 through September 14, 2020. The Minister of State for Education made this known on Monday at the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 gathering.

Emeka Nwajiuba said all the state Commissioners and governors had concurred that all schools will open in Nigeria from August 3. This is to set up the students for the WASSCE.


“This fluctuates the plan we unsettled before by as much as about fourteen days. What the understanding involves is WAEC West Africa and all the nations that are in it have concurred that the exams ought to continue, yet the exams are impossible to miss to Nigeria, it will be taken from September 5 through to September 14,” he said.

The Minister included: “The exams that are normal to all the nations of West Africa will continue as recently distributed on August 17. This today was acknowledged by each state in Nigeria and supported by the Presidential Task Force today at our gathering. Revision classes start from today.”
