18 COVID-19 patients discharged in Oyo as 11 others test positive

Oyo State has discharged 18 confirmed COVID-19 patients that have tested negative the second time, bringing the number of COVID-19 patients that have been discharged in the state to 46, OYOGist.com has learned.

The announcement was made on the 18th of May by Governor Seyi Makinde, who also doubles as the head of the State’s COVID-19 Task Force. However, the discharged cases are reported as the 17th of May’s update.

The Governor also announced that there were 11 new confirmed COVID-19 cases that came back positive on the 17th of May, 2020. Eight of the eleven cases were from the same organization that recorded 30 cases on the 16th of May, the Governor said.

The said organization is in Ibadan South West Local Government Area. One of the cases is from Oluyole Local Government Area while the other two, are from the University Teaching Hospital, UCH. The UCH cases have died and have been buried before the result was returned.

This new report brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Oyo State to 118. The COVID-19 related deaths in the state are now 4.
