Coronavirus Update: Nigeria to halt inter-state movements as cases rise

Nigeria’s government has announced plans to put interstate travels on hold following an increase in the confirmed cases of Coronavirus in the Country, OYOGist.com has learned.

The decision would also affect railway transportation.

The Honourable Minister for Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, made the announcement during a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday, 26th of March, 2020.

The Minister disclosed that the Federal Government would be deploying firefighting equipment and personnel to disinfect marketplaces, bus stations, cities and towns across the country.

Recall that the Nigerian Airforce airlifted the country’s share of medical supplies that were donated to Africa by Asian billionaire, Jack Ma from Lagos to Abuja on Wednesday.

Lai Mohammed said that the government would not spare efforts in ensuring that social distancing, self-isolation and lockdown rules are obeyed.

Lai Mohammed further explained that the government is working to ensure more bed spaces are provided in hospitals.
