A Relative Played Cupid and It Led Chisom & Kenechi to a Sweet Proposal in Paris!

From a Simple Church Greeting to “Forever”: Chisom & Kenechi’s Paris Proposal

When Love Finds You Unexpectedly

Love has a way of arriving quietly, often when we least expect it. For Chisom, her journey to finding her forever began in the most ordinary place — church. What started as nothing more than friendly smiles and polite greetings would eventually lead her straight into the arms of her soulmate, Kenechi.

Unbeknownst to her, those warm greetings didn’t go unnoticed. Someone within Kenechi’s family had observed her kindness and, without knowing it, stepped into the role of Cupid. That single connection became the thread that gently pulled two destined hearts together.

A Connection That Felt Effortless

Their love story unfolded naturally — from an unexpected social media connection to conversations that felt like fresh air. Every interaction revealed shared interests, mutual respect, and an ease that made distance and time feel insignificant.

What followed was a first date filled with intention and thoughtfulness, the kind that leaves you certain something meaningful has begun. From that day forward, their bond only deepened.

A Proposal in the City of Love

Months later, in one of the most romantic cities in the world, Kenechi sealed their love story with a moment straight out of a fairytale. Against the iconic backdrop of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, he went down on one knee and asked Chisom to spend forever with him.

Surrounded by beauty, history, and love, she said yes — a joyful answer that felt long overdue. Their proposal photos capture not just the moment, but the deep affection and harmony they share.

How We Met

By the bride, Chisom:

One of Kenechi’s family members and I attended the same church. Every Sunday, we exchanged kind greetings — nothing more than smiles and polite hellos. I had no idea that those small interactions were quietly planting the seeds of something greater.

Some time later, I received a friend request from someone I didn’t recognize. Not knowing who he was or that he was connected to church, I ignored it. Months passed, and I relocated to England for my studies. Then one day, he appeared again, following me on social media. That’s when I remembered the earlier request and decided to accept it.

He sent me a message shortly after, and something about it immediately stood out. He was respectful, calm, and genuinely kind — a refreshing energy. As we talked, we realized we shared a love for travel and discovered we lived only an hour apart.

When we finally spoke on the phone, the conversation flowed effortlessly and lasted for hours. The next day, it happened again. Soon after, he asked me out on a date. That weekend, we met for the first time, and he had planned the entire day so thoughtfully. It was intentional, sweet, and unforgettable.

Our date stretched on for hours, filled with laughter and ease. From that moment, we were inseparable. Then, months later, in my favorite city — Paris — he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. My heart already knew the answer. I said yes.

Love Worth Celebrating

Chisom and Kenechi’s story is a beautiful reminder that love doesn’t always arrive loudly. Sometimes, it grows quietly through kindness, timing, and fate aligning perfectly. Their journey proves that the simplest beginnings can lead to the most extraordinary endings.

Enjoy their stunning proposal photos and let their story remind you that love always finds its way.

CBN, NCC Working on Short Code to Speed Up Bank Complaint Resolution

by Ayodeji Onibalusi December 14, 2025

CBN and NCC Plan Unified Short Code to Simplify Bank Complaints for Nigerians

A New Channel for Faster Consumer Complaints

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has announced plans to collaborate with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) on the rollout of a single, industry-wide short code designed to make it easier for bank customers to submit complaints and seek resolution.

The initiative aims to create a simpler and more accessible complaints process across Nigeria’s financial sector, particularly for customers who rely on basic mobile phones or lack consistent internet access.

Designed With Vulnerable Consumers in Mind

The disclosure was made by Dr Aisha Isa-Olatinwo, Director of the Consumer Protection and Financial Inclusion Department at the CBN, during a virtual Consumer Protection Town Hall meeting titled “Ask the Regulator”, organised by Enhancing Financial Innovation and Access (EFInA).

According to Isa-Olatinwo, the proposed short code will allow consumers to reach their banks and other financial institutions at any time, regardless of internet availability.

“We are working with the NCC to develop an industry short code that will enable consumers to reach their financial institutions anytime, with or without internet access,” she explained.

Addressing Confusion in a Converging System

Isa-Olatinwo acknowledged that Nigeria’s financial ecosystem increasingly overlaps with the telecommunications sector, often leaving customers uncertain about where to direct complaints when issues arise. She noted that the CBN has simplified its internal processes and strengthened collaboration with banks to improve response times.

She revealed that the apex bank now records approximately 94 per cent month-on-month timely resolution of consumer complaints, reflecting progress in dispute handling across the industry.

What Consumers Are Experiencing

Data from an EFInA poll shared during the event highlighted key pain points faced by financial services users:

  • 66% of respondents understand how to lodge and escalate complaints
  • 61% experienced failed transactions within the past year
  • 26% had failed transactions reversed within 24 hours
  • 54% received reversals between 24 and 48 hours
  • 6% encountered fraud-related issues
  • 14% reported hidden charges
  • 15% cited poor customer service

Calls for Stronger Consumer Protection

Speaking at the town hall, Mrs Sola Salako-Ajulo, President of the Consumer Advocacy Foundation of Nigeria (CAFON), said many Nigerians still feel exposed and believe regulatory bodies often side with service providers.

She advocated for the introduction of fraud insurance, suggesting that banks should immediately refund customers affected by fraud and then proceed with investigations afterward, rather than delaying compensation.

Clarifying Responsibility in Transaction Disputes

On the issue of failed transactions, Mr Ajibade Laolu-Adewale, Chairman of the Committee of e-Business Industry Heads (CeBIH)—represented by Mr Adeyemi Salisu—emphasised that customers should not be redirected to merchants for resolution.

“The dispute is between the acquiring bank and the issuing bank. Bank staff must never send customers back to the merchant. Regulation already states that for every dispute, the two banks must engage and resolve it so the consumer can be satisfied,” he stated.

Looking Ahead

With the planned introduction of a unified complaints short code, regulators hope to close existing gaps in consumer access and protection. The initiative signals a broader effort to ensure financial inclusion, accountability, and faster resolution of customer issues across Nigeria’s evolving digital financial landscape.

The Top Sectors Growing Nigeria’s Economy

by Ayodeji Onibalusi December 9, 2025
written by Ayodeji Onibalusi

Nigeria’s economy is becoming stronger, and the latest report from the National Bureau of Statistics shows that most of this growth is coming from non-oil sectors.

In the third quarter of 2025, the country recorded a 3.98% rise in GDP, and more than 96% of this came from activities outside the oil industry. This confirms a clear shift: Nigeria is depending less on crude oil and more on agriculture, services, and other productive areas.

Agriculture leads the way

Agriculture remains one of the biggest forces behind Nigeria’s economic progress. It contributed a little over 31% to the entire economy.

Crop production alone made up more than 23%, showing how important farming is for both food supply and income. Livestock also played its part with over 6% contribution.

The sector is not only supporting households but also helping stabilise food security.

Services Sector Dominates

Services continue to be the backbone of economic activity, accounting for more than half of Nigeria’s GDP. Trade made a strong showing with 16.42%, driven mostly by everyday consumer spending.

Real estate also remained strong at 13.36%, reflecting consistent demand for housing and property.

Telecommunications and information services contributed 7.67% and recorded solid growth. As more Nigerians rely on digital services for communication, business, and entertainment, the telecom sector is becoming even more essential.

Other service areas such as public administration and professional or technical services also added small but steady contributions, helping to broaden the economy.

Oil Sector Slows Down

Even though crude oil production increased to about 1.64 million barrels per day, the oil sector still accounted for only 3.80% of GDP. This shows how much smaller its influence has become, despite being important for government revenue.

Growth in the oil sector also slowed, which reinforces the need for Nigeria to keep pushing its diversification plans.

Manufacturing and construction add support

Some industrial activities also boosted growth. Food, beverage, and tobacco manufacturing contributed 3.44%, reflecting strong demand for packaged goods and processed foods.

Construction added 3.03%, thanks to ongoing infrastructure projects and private building developments across different states.

From farming to telecoms, trade to construction, Nigeria’s economy is being powered by sectors that touch people’s daily lives. The steady shift away from oil shows progress, and the strong performance of non-oil sectors is helping stabilize the economy.

FG Unveils N3 Billion Student Venture Capital Grant to Back Campus Innovators

by Ayodeji Onibalusi December 9, 2025
written by Ayodeji Onibalusi

The Federal Government has launched a new Student Venture Capital Grant aimed at helping Nigerian students turn promising ideas into real businesses, with a total funding pool of N3 billion set aside for the programme. The initiative is designed to provide equity-free support of up to N50 million for eligible student-led innovations.

The scheme was unveiled in Abuja by the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, as part of a wider push to strengthen entrepreneurship and innovation within Nigeria’s tertiary institutions. According to the government, the goal is to identify and support high-potential ventures emerging from campuses, encourage problem-solving through research and creativity, and help students build scalable solutions that can compete locally and globally.

The application window opened on November 17, 2025, and is expected to run until January 23, 2026. Government officials say interest has been strong so far, with tens of thousands of applications already recorded within the early phase of the rollout.

Eligibility is expected to cover full-time 300-level students and above across federal, state and private tertiary institutions. The government also says the programme is open to Master’s and PhD students, widening access beyond undergraduates.

The initiative is primarily focused on STEMM-related fields—science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medical sciences—suggesting an emphasis on innovations that can drive national development and economic transformation.

Beyond the funding itself, the grant is positioned as part of a broader innovation ecosystem. The application and review process is expected to include structured evaluation, and the programme is also being linked to mentorship and incubation support to help viable ideas move from concept to execution.

For many students, this grant could help close a major gap that has long limited campus entrepreneurship in Nigeria: the lack of early-stage funding that does not require repayment or equity surrender.

If implemented with transparency and strong follow-through, the Student Venture Capital Grant could become one of Nigeria’s most meaningful efforts in recent years to turn student creativity into real businesses, create jobs, and build long-term value from innovation within higher education.

Court Rejects Nnamdi Kanu’s Request to be Moved From Sokoto Prison

Court Rejects Nnamdi Kanu’s Request to be Moved From Sokoto Prison

by Ayodeji Onibalusi December 9, 2025
written by Ayodeji Onibalusi

A Federal High Court in Abuja has declined an ex parte application filed by the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, seeking to be transferred from the Sokoto Correctional Centre to a facility closer to the Federal Capital Territory.

Kanu, through a lawyer from the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria, asked the court to direct the Federal Government and the Nigerian Correctional Service to move him to either the Kuje Custodial Centre in Abuja or the Keffi Custodial Centre in Nasarawa State. In the alternative, he requested a transfer to any correctional facility within the court’s jurisdiction, arguing that being closer would help him pursue his appeal effectively.

The trial judge refused to grant the request as presented, stating that such an order could not be made without hearing from the respondents. The court held that the Federal Government and the Nigerian Correctional Service must be put on notice and allowed to respond before any decision can be taken on a request of this nature.

During proceedings, the judge reportedly drew attention to the wording of one of the reliefs in the motion, particularly the request to “compel” the authorities to act. Kanu’s counsel is said to have agreed that the offending relief should be struck out. The court then directed that the relevant parties be properly served.

The case is expected to continue once the application is converted to a motion on notice. A new hearing date has been fixed to allow service on the necessary parties and enable a full response.

Kanu’s latest request follows his conviction and sentencing on terrorism-related charges, after which he was moved to the Sokoto Correctional Centre. His legal team has argued that keeping him far from Abuja complicates access to counsel and legal preparations.

For now, the ruling means Kanu remains in Sokoto while the Federal Government and correctional authorities are expected to be formally served ahead of the next hearing

Winner: Creative Agency of the Year MOI Awards 2025 – Insight Publicis

by Ayodeji Onibalusi December 9, 2025
written by Ayodeji Onibalusi

MOI Awards recognised Insight Publicis for its long-standing role in defining what modern Nigerian advertising looks and feels like, as well as its continued relevance in a new digital-first era.

The agency has been behind some of the country’s most memorable campaigns, helping local and international brands connect with audiences in ways that feel current, culturally smart and emotionally real.

Beyond the work that goes on screen and on billboards, Insight Publicis has also acted as a training ground for generations of strategists, creatives and marketers. Many of the talents now leading other agencies and brand teams across Africa passed through its doors.

By naming Insight Publicis as Creative Agency of the Year, MOI Awards is recognising both history and momentum: decades of storytelling that shaped consumer culture, and a present-day commitment to fresh ideas, younger voices and brave creative decisions. It is a reminder that in the business of ideas, staying power comes from constant reinvention, not resting on old glory.

BREAKING: Burkina Faso Military Regime Detains 11 Nigerian Soldiers, Seizes Aircraft [VIDEO]

by Ayodeji Onibalusi December 9, 2025
written by Ayodeji Onibalusi

Burkina Faso’s military authorities say they have intercepted a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) aircraft and detained 11 Nigerian soldiers on board after accusing the jet of violating the country’s airspace.

In a statement signed by junta leader, Capt. Ibrahim Traoré’s ally and head of state Assimi Goïta on behalf of the Confederation of Sahel States (AES), the regime said the aircraft was compelled to land on Monday in Bobo Dioulasso following what was described as an “in-flight emergency”.

According to the statement, subsequent checks by Burkinabe security and aviation services revealed that the Nigerian military aircraft had no clearance to enter or fly over Burkina Faso.

“An investigation was immediately opened by the competent Burkinabe services and highlighted the lack of authorisation to fly over Burkinabe territory for this military apparatus,” the statement read in part.

AES Condemns ‘Airspace Violation’

The junta, speaking under the umbrella of the Confederation of Sahel States — made up of Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger — described the incident as a grave breach of its sovereignty and international aviation norms.

“The Confederation of the Sahel States most strongly condemns this violation of its airspace and the sovereignty of its member states,” the statement said.

Goïta warned that the AES would no longer tolerate what it called “unfriendly acts” and announced that joint air defence assets within the Sahel confederal space had been placed on maximum alert.

“In this regard, and on the instructions of the Heads of State, the air and anti-aircraft defences of the Confederal space… were authorised to neutralise any aircraft that would violate the confederal space,” the statement added.

Burkinabe authorities have reportedly held the 11 Nigerian soldiers since the aircraft was grounded, as diplomatic and military channels scramble behind the scenes to clarify the circumstances of the mission.

Link to Benin Coup Fallout

The development comes barely 24 hours after Nigerian fighter jets were deployed to Benin Republic to target soldiers involved in a failed coup attempt in Cotonou.

Presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, had explained that President Bola Tinubu approved the use of Nigerian air assets and ground support at the formal request of Beninese authorities.

He said Benin sought Nigerian assistance for surveillance, rapid intervention and precision strikes against fleeing coup plotters, with operations coordinated under Benin’s command.

Reports indicated that Nigerian jets conducted multiple air raids lasting over 30 minutes within Benin’s airspace, targeting armoured vehicles and escape routes allegedly used by the mutinous soldiers.

It remains unclear whether the Nigerian aircraft intercepted over Burkina Faso was part of the same mission or on a separate assignment. Burkina Faso lies northwest of Benin Republic and shares strategic air corridors in the Sahel belt.

ECOWAS vs AES Tensions Deepen

The incident risks further straining already fraught relations between the Confederation of Sahel States and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger formally pulled out of ECOWAS in January after a series of coups and prolonged sanctions imposed by the regional bloc. The three juntas later consolidated their alliance by forming the AES and adopting a common security posture.

Following the foiled coup in Benin, ECOWAS announced the activation and deployment of elements of its standby force to support the country’s authorities, a move seen by AES capitals as an assertion of ECOWAS’ security footprint near their borders.

Goïta, in the Burkinabe statement, said the AES had taken “all necessary measures” to safeguard its territorial integrity and protect its citizens, signalling a more aggressive stance towards any foreign military presence near or within its airspace.

As of press time, Abuja had yet to issue an official reaction to the detention of the 11 Nigerian soldiers and the seizure of the NAF aircraft by Burkina Faso’s military regime.

Dutch and Sparta Rotterdam goalkeeper Joel Drommel made history by equalling Maduka Okoye‘s shot-stopping record in his side’s 1-0 win over NAC Breda, Soccernet.ng reports.

Okoye set the record on April 19, 2022, making eight saves and keeping a clean sheet in Rotterdam’s 1-0 win over Vitesse.

Drommel, 29, did one better yesterday, making nine saves and getting the man of the match award after a display that inspired De Kasteelheren to their sixth league win of the season.

“Super fun, but I feel like I’m freezing. It was really bad weather, but during the game I didn’t feel that. I haven’t been cold, but can we hurry up now?’

“I’m also in front of it as a goalkeeper. Certainly. For me, this is enjoyable, yes. You can help your teammates; that’s a wonderful feeling.

“I felt before halftime, after my second save, that this could be such an evening. A night when I would take everything out.

Maduka Okoye is now primed to be the Super Eagles’ starting goalkeeper at the AFCON 2025 tournament after Stanley Nwabali suffered a hand injury that will require him to undergo surgery.
