Russia Accused of Striking Kostyantynivka with Phosphorus Munitions and FAB-1500 Bomb

Reports circulating on social media claim that Russian forces struck the eastern Ukrainian city of Kostyantynivka with both phosphorus munitions and a FAB-1500 guided glide bomb.

According to the claims, the attack allegedly involved the deployment of phosphorus-based weapons, which ignite on contact and burn intensely, alongside a FAB-1500, a 1,500-kilogram guided glide bomb considered one of the largest conventional munitions in Russia’s arsenal.

Videos shared online appear to show multiple incendiary-like streaks descending over the city skyline. However, independent verification of the footage and the exact type of munitions used has not yet been confirmed by neutral observers.

The use of phosphorus weapons is highly controversial. While white phosphorus is not universally banned, its use in civilian-populated areas may violate international humanitarian law due to its indiscriminate and incendiary effects.

As of the time of this report, there has been no official confirmation from Russian authorities regarding the nature of the strike. Ukrainian officials have previously accused Russia of using prohibited or restricted munitions in populated areas, claims Moscow has repeatedly denied.

Kostyantynivka, located in Ukraine’s Donetsk region, has been the site of intensified fighting in recent months as hostilities continue across eastern Ukraine.

Further updates are expected as more verified information becomes available.
