Members of the Oyo State House of Assembly elected under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) banner have reiterated their steadfast allegiance to Governor Seyi Makinde and the party’s leadership at both the state and federal levels. This declaration came during a strategic caucus meeting of the 10th Assembly held in Ibadan, where lawmakers assessed the current political climate, including the recent surge in defections nationwide, and deliberated on plans for the 2027 general elections.
Speaker Ogundoyin Calls for Unwavering Dedication Amid Political Turbulence
Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, Speaker of the House, who chaired the session, emphasized the necessity for resilience and unity among PDP members. He stated, “Now is not the moment to hesitate or lose resolve. We must stand united as proud representatives of the PDP in Oyo State and across Nigeria. Despite the challenges and defections shaking the political landscape, our foundation must remain solid. Our loyalty to the PDP should be absolute and unwavering.”
He further urged the caucus to disregard distractions and temporary setbacks, highlighting that political fluctuations are cyclical, but the party’s core values and dedication must remain intact. “Our presence here is a result of the trust the people of Oyo State have placed in us under the PDP’s banner, and it is our duty to honor that trust,” Ogundoyin added.

Reaffirming their confidence in Governor Makinde’s administration, the Speaker encouraged his colleagues to continue supporting the Governor’s progressive agenda. “Governor Makinde’s leadership has been instrumental in driving development and positioning Oyo State as a model of effective governance in Nigeria. His vision and determination inspire us all, and we must back him wholeheartedly as he spearheads efforts to secure PDP’s success in the 2027 elections,” Ogundoyin remarked.
