According to report reaching oyogist.com, Lagos state government has approved the reconstruction of Massey street children hospital in a bid to improve children and maternal care in the state.

The State Governor took to his verified twitter handle to disclose this;

He said: “To improve children and maternal care in Lagos State, we set out on the reconstruction of Massey Street Children Hospital. The century old Massey Street Hospital is more than just a hospital for most of us, it is also a part of our history and heritage.”

“The rehabilitation of the hospital reflects our unwavering determination to bridge all gaps in the health sector while the reconstruction of three major roads in Lagos Island demonstrates our commitment to an inclusive and non-discriminatory developmental agenda.”

“As a responsive government, we identified the inadequacy of Massey Children Hospital to continue to meet the needs of a megacity, and particularly those of the children in need of care.”

“As a result of the increasing number of patients who need to access quality medical services, the capacity has been overstretched and the hospital must be urgently upgraded to meet the needs of patients.”

“The new Massey Street Children Hospital will be a seven-storey, 150-bed, ultra-modern, fit-for-purpose paediatrics and emergency General Hospital with a multi-level car park.”
