The Lagos government has once more stressed the necessity for residents to strictly adhere to precautionary measures against the transmission of COVID-19 to stop another lockdown of the economy.
The State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, disclosed this while speaking on efforts being made by this administration to sustain the gains that are made to regulate the worldwide pandemic in Lagos State.
@ProfAkinAbayomi explained that a lot of countries and cities are experiencing a second and third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic with a resultant spike within the number of cases and fatalities.

He noted that a lot of of the affected countries round the world have found it necessary to impose a second lockdown and restriction of movements, which have significant socioeconomic and security consequences.
The Commissioner, however, warned that the continual flagrant disregard of safety guidelines by citizens herald danger and should cause the second wave of latest infections in Lagos.
He advised all residents against unnecessary movement and social gatherings, while travelling into and out of doors the country should be discouraged except when absolutely essential.

The Commissioner urged citizens, who experience symptoms of COVID-19 infection, to go to any of the dedicated sample collection sites in their local governments or public laboratories to urge a test done freed from charge.
He noted that early diagnosis aids prompt management and care of patients, leading to the prevention of transmission to other citizens, particularly vulnerable and elderly members of society who may have underlying predispositions.
He stated that COVID-19 testing for other purposes, like travelling or as a requirement for professional reasons, are often done at any of the ten Government accredited laboratories or by booking a test online.
Abayomi explained that Lagos State features a quality assurance process for each test that’s done within its boundaries, noting that the necessity to oversee the method can’t be overemphasised because COVID-19 may be a public health care emergency.
The Commissioner explained that the State is additionally providing, freed from charge, all social amenities like the EKOTELEMED service, the delivery of COVID-19 Care packs, sample collection logistics also as monitoring and validation of all laboratories and isolation centres.
Abayomi further added that the Lagos State Governor and Incident Commander, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is extremely committed to protecting the lives and livelihood of its residents because the State still permit a gradual return to socio-economic activities.
He assured that the govt will still make sure that testing and isolation, if required, remain accessible and liberal to citizens as needed .
