OYOGist.com has learned that the former minister of education and presidential aspirant, Oby Ekwuezeli has lashed out at Northern Governors for their call for social media censorship in the country.
She took to her Twitter handle on Tuesday morning to express her resentment on the treatment of EndSars protest promoter who was denied access to travel out of the country.
In the same vein, she called out the Northern governors for releasing a communique that calls for the censorship of social media in Nigeria.
She said “I am certain that some of the best minds in the North are ashamed of that bunch that gathered together as “Northern Governors” and wrote that trash on the #EndSARS protests as well as Social Media. No wonder all economic, human and social indicators of Governance remain dismal.”
You would recall that reactions have trailed the meeting of the Northern Governors Forum that was attended by northern traditional rulers, the Minister of Information, the police IG, the Senate President and other political gladiators to discuss the aftermath of the #EndSars protest.
In the communique that has been going round the internet, the Northern Governors Forum thanked the traditional rulers for protecting the region from being consumed by the EndSars agitation that took place weeks ago.
The communique also highlighted different resolutions of the Northern Governors and censorship of the social media took the spotlight. Consequently, Nigerians on social media have criticized the move to gag the people and #SayNoToSocialMediaBill has been trending.
