The Academic Staff Union of University Asuu, has almost reached a dead end with the Federal Government over agreeing on the Payment platform which will be used for the disbursing of N30 Billion earned allowance of the University Lecturers. Both parties have now disagreed for the second consecutive time this week, after their second meeting which took place in Abuja yesterday, oyogist.com reports.
The minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige who is leading the Federal Government team over negotiations with Asuu, proposed that disbursing of earned allowance should be done through Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System IPPIS, pending the time the payment platform developed by the union, the University Transparency and Accountability Solution UTAS is undergoing Integrity test.
But Asuu refused the proposal as their Chairman, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi insisted that the payment should be made through UTAS, as he said the Union is willing to wait for the Integrity test being carried out to test the UTAS, to be complete.
The Union has been on strike for over 7 months and have little or no chance of resuming academic activities this year, depending on the duration in which the Integrity test is being carried out.
