Lauretta Onochie has come under fire after attacking superstar songwriter and global sensation, Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid for his comments to President Buhari over the incessant killings and extortion of youths by the SARS operatives.
Following widespread protests online by Nigerians over the poor treatment meted to Nigerian youths by the Special Anti-Robery Squad (SARS) operatives, Buhari who has consistently ignored the pleas of Nigerians to ban the notorious group was caught wishing Donald Trump quick recovery after the later announced that he had contracted the coronavirus.
Wizkid took this to chide the President and told him to focus on Nigeria and act of the requests of the citizens to put an end to the reign of terror of the SARS operatives, OYOGist.com gathered.
“Donald Trump is not your business! Old man! Police/Sarz still killing Nigerian youth on a daily! Do something! Nothing concern unfor America! Face your country !!” Wizkid tweeted to Buhari on Sunday.
This tweet spiraled a chain of reactions from several Nigerian celebrities and politicians who also called on the government to ban the SARS police.
On Monday, one of Buhari’s aides, Lauretta Onochie tweeted that those calling for the ban of the SARS operatives were cyber-criminals in disguise.
OYOGist.com recalls that the nation’s top politicians and clergymen have all called for the ban of the group after series of videos showed them harassing, kidnapping, killing and extorting Nigerians indiscriminately.
Responding to Wizkid’s tweet to Buhari, Onochie wrote on Twitter, “It is not disrespectful to call anyone old. It is the way and manner Ayo Balogun addressed the President that leaves a sour taste in the mouth.”
Speaking further, she called the music star several unflattering names, when she wrote, “He exhibited crass ignorance, insensitivity and childishness. But hey, he’s a #DumbkidNotWhizkid When he grows up, he might learn respect.”
In response to Onochie’s tweet(which has since been heavily criticized for being insensitive), Wizkid tweeted, “ lol a 77 year old man is not young ma.. You are a woman and a mother and kids are getting killed by police/sars and this is all you have to say? shame on you!!! shame on you!! I am a father and age has nothing to do with demanding for a better governance in my country!!”
This has got many Nigerians praising the music star for standing up for many Nigerians fearlessly.
