OYOGist has learned that as regarding the reopening of schools in Nigeria, the Minister of State for Education, Honorable Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, has assured all students that tertiary institutions will be reopened soon.
This was disclosed while he was speaking during an NTA programme on “Nigeria Policy Brief on Education and COVID-19” today, Saturday, 22nd August, 2020.

While speaking, the Minister didn’t disclose a specific date for the resumption, however, he said that plans are being made and that reports from the National Universities Commission (NUC), and other stakeholders of various tertiary institutions will be articulated and presented to the Presidential Task Force in the country, and thus, evaluate it.
The Minister also explained that different Vice Chancellors from tertiary institutions in the country has written to the Ministry in order to allow them reopen schools as students are all expectant.
Thus, reacting to all these, the Minister has assured that something will be worked out soon, and the reopening will be made sooner than expected.
