Breaking: Kano Govt stops payment of N30,000 minimum wage, reverts to N18,000

According to report reaching oyogist.com, the Kano Staye government has reportedly reverted the minimum wage of the state workers to N18,000 naira minimum wage saying, it can no longer pay the new 30,000 naira minimum wage.

This report was confirmed by the Special Adviser on Media to the Kano state Governor, Salihu Tanko-Yakasai, during a phone interview with the PUNCH on Wednesday.

When asked about the authencity of the report, he said, “Yes, the state government has stopped the payment of N30,000 minimum wage to its workers with immediate effect.”

“The state government has reverted to the initial minimum wage due to the recession.

“What we are getting now as a government has reduced, and we can’t afford to pay the N30,000 minimum wage,” he noted.
