OYOGist.com has learned that a Nigerian lawyer, Umar Sa’ad Hassan, has reportedly said that the real internet fraudsters popularly called Yahoo boys in Nigeria are those who go around with police escorts, soldiers, men of the DSS and bodyguards.

Barrister Umar, said less privileged Nigerians who are caught doing internet scams are quickly labelled criminals but flamboyant celebrities like Pascal Okechukwu, aka Cubana Chief priest, and Emeka Okonkwo, aka E-money, who have questionable source of wealth were let off the hook easily by the police after they were invited to explain the source of their wealth.

Both E-money and Cubana chief priest were probed by the Nigerian police few months back over their lavish lifestyle and abuse of police escorts attached to them. They were later released after being interrogated by the police.

The lawyer adds that the reason why Nigerians prefer foreign security outfits to prosecute Nigerian fraudsters is because both the EFCC and the judiciary are complicit in the crime of being corrupt.

He questioned why a federal high court will rule that the recovered items from alleged internet fraudster, Mompha, be released to him when he has a pending trial. Mompha who is standing trial for an alleged 32.9 billion naira fraud was released after meeting his N100 million bail condition.
