Imo Tax Consultants Demand Payment of N3.1billion Commission as State Government Refuses to Pay

OYOGist.com has learned that the tax Consultants engaged by the Imo State Internal Revenue Service who served as the Tax Audit Monitoring Agent to the Imo State government have reportedly protested against the non-payment of their 20percent commission agreed and stated in their letter of appointment.

The Consultants noted that the Hope Uzodinma led state government deliberately failed to pay them their commission.

One of the representatives of the Consultant by name Mr Kelechi Onukwugha who was interviewed by the correspondent of Punch Newspaper, said that the state government refused to pay them 20 percent commission of N12,621,871.85 which amounted to N3,185,291,967.

He noted that the Imo State Government had refused to pay them the 20 per cent commission which was stated in their agreement contract letter since March 2020.

Mr Kelechi stated that even up till date, the government was still yet to pay them. When Punch Newspaper team contacted the Imo State Director of Taxes, Mr Basil Iwu, he said that he was not the chairman of the Board but just a civil servant. He said that what he was sure of was that the State Government intentions is to make tax collection hitch-free in the State.
