Hagia Sophia: Turkey Condemns Greece For Allowing It Officials To Burn Turkish Flag

According to report reaching OYOGist.com, the Erdogan led Turkish government have reportedly condemned Greece for allowing the Turkish flag to be burnt in Thessaloniki, amid anger of the re-conversion of Hagia Sophia to an Islamic mosque.

In a statement the Turkish government said, “Greece showed once again it enemity towards Islam and the Turkey with the excuse of reacting to the Hagia Sophia mosque being open to prayer”.

It will be recalled that Hagia Sophia which served as a church for 916 years until the conquest of Istanbul, and a mosque from 1453 to 1934 served as a museum for about 86 before the the Turkish government concerted it to a museum.

Hagia Sophia is one of the most visited museum in both by domestic and international tourists before it was converted to a mosque and first prayers was held recently which sparked outrage in Greece.

In a message marking the 46th anniversary of the restoration of democracy,the Greek prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis called the conversion an affront to civilization of the 21th century.
