England-born and Girondis Bordeaux of France star Josh Maja has said he is willing to prove himself for Nigeria super eagles and to make record with them very soon, oyogist.com reports.

The former Sunderland of England youngster made his debut for Nigeria national team in the 2-2 friendly draw against Ukraine senior team last September, and he has been unable to play for Nigeria since that time.

In a chat with BBC Sport Africa, Maja said he’s determined to make record with the Super Eagles, and to let then know through his talent.

“Of course, playing in one of Europe’s top five leagues and performing well will improve my chances of playing (International football). I’ve settled in well since I joined Bordeaux (from English club Sunderland in January 2019). I’ve adapted to the playing style and culture of the league and I’m hoping to play more games in the future. It’s a great experience in a top league.”

Maja continues by saying the Nigerian national team is blessed with many talents, and the future is very bright with them.

“The Nigerian team has always had quality, but now there are a lot of young talents playing, so the future is very bright for us. Hopefully the opportunity comes to play and help them make history.”

Maja concluded by saying playing for the National team has always been his dream, and to represent his country and to make his family proud, he said he has been to Nigeria many times, and he will also be coming to Nigeria very soon.

Maja was named Bordeaux highest goal scorer last season, and he has promised to continue with his excellent performance for the French club in the coming season.
