Gunmen Murders APC Governorship Aspirant’s Father-in-law in Cold Blood

Prof Christopher Ogiehor, an 80 years old father-in-law of an APC governorship aspirant in Edo State, Mathew Iduoriyekenmwen, has been murdered by some unknown gunmen in his house Benin City, The Punch has reported.

Ogiehor, who is a university don, was said to have been found dead in his house located at 13, Egbor Anenne Street, off Benoni, by the Government Reservation Area in Benin City.

According to The Punch, the old man was said to have been found lying in a pool of blood inside his bedroom in the early hours of Thursday. In the word of a family member who does not want his name mentioned: “He was found inside his bedroom dead with a broken head and his hands tied behind him, an indication that he may have been hit on his head and probably strangled.

The family source disclosed that officers from the Forensic Department of the Nigeria Police had come to commence an investigation into the killing, which he said is a mystery to them up till now.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the incident and said that officers of the Criminal Investigation Department in charge of Homicide had been dispatched to the deceased’s residence to commence a thorough investigation into the unfortunate killing.
