EFCC arrests social media influencer, Adeherself, 4 others over alleged fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a social media influencer Adewale Adedamola who goes by the username @adeherself on Instagram alongside four others for alleged involvement in internet fraud, OYOGist.com has gathered.

According to the commission, the suspects were arrested at different locations in Lagos.

20-year-old Adewale and Lamina Hamzat Ajibola were arrested at Agungi in Lekki, Lagos, the other three suspects Isreal Onyebuchi, Emmanuel Olayode and Valentine Nwokorie were reportedly arrested at Ibeju-Lekki, in Lagos.

One of the suspects, Adewale was said to have admitted to being a “picker” for internet romance scammers who pretends to be a foreign lady to procure money from their victims.

The commission also revealed that items seized from them include two Toyota Camry 2009 model cars, and a sum of N9,000,000.00 (Nine Million Naira only), which was found in Adewale’s account.
