People Want To Be Admitted As Covid-19 Patients Because Of The Luxurious Meals – Bauchi Govt

OYOGist.com has learned that the Bauchi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency has said many residents of the state are wanting to be admitted to the isolation centre after they heard about the “sumptuous meals” available for COVID-19 patients.

The people seeking admission to the power don’t have the virus, the agency said. The agency added that the government spends N1,500 per single meal for COVID-19 patients on admission within the state. The meals comprised chicken, eggs, and fried potatoes, among others, the agency said.

Executive Chairman of the agency, Dr. Rilwanu Mohammed, disclosed this in an interview with the press agency of Nigeria in Bauchi on Sunday. The state’s COVID-19 toll is 232. Mohammed, who is additionally the Chairman, Contact Tracing Committee on COVID-19 within the state, said the Governor Bala Mohammad gave the directives so as to make sure that each one the COVID-19 patients within the state were well fed.

Recounting phone conversations with some members of the general public, the PHCDA boss said, having heard about the luxurious treatment received by COVID-19 patients, some people were calling to be taken to an isolation centre although they were hale and hearty.

“Recently, three people called me and that they were asking that they wanted to be admitted in isolation centre. One of them was from Giade authorities Area of the state and since we recently discharged lots of ind ividuals from that area, obviously they’d given them information on how they were taken care of”.

“All these people were pleading with me to return and pick them up and take them to an isolation centre, they said they wanted to enjoy the chicken, eggs, fried potatoes and every one the goodies our patients are having while in isolation,” he said.

Mohammed further urged the people of the state to always adhere to any or all the preventive measures as advised by the govt and health experts so as to contain spread of the virus. NAN reports that the state, as of Sunday, May 24, had 232 confirmed cases of COVID-19; 164 had been discharged up to now, five deaths, with 63 active cases.
