The football has now been left in another shock as eight players from Mexican top-flight side Santos Laguna tests positive for coronavirus. This will hinder the possible return of the Mexican league, the Liga MX as the League management won’t want to risk infecting others.
In an interview with TV sports channel TUDN, Santos Laguna’s owner, Alejandro Irarragorri admitted that it will difficult for the league to resume with the situation they found themselves in.
“This particular situation makes resuming the league more complicated,” he said. Irarragorri revealed further that the situation could be worse than this, as only 22 results have come back out of 48 tests on players and coaches.
The League management of Liga MX said the players infected with coronavirus, whose identities have not been revealed, were asymptomatic. With more than 6,000 fatalities, Mexico has the second highest coronavirus death toll in Latin America after Brazil.
