BREAKING NEWS: Buhari Bans all movements in Lagos, Ogun, and FCT over COVID-19

President Muhammadu Buhari has on 7 PM Sunday, 29th of March 2020, announced the cessation of all movements in the FCT, Lagos, Ogun States for an initial duration of 14 days over the coronavirus pandemic OYOGist.com reports.

The President disclosed this during his 7 PM address to the nation on Sunday.

Lagos State currently has the highest number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria.

“Based on the advice of Federal Ministry of Health and the Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC, I am directing the cessation of all movements in Lagos and the FCT for an initial period of 14 days with effect from 11pm on Monday, 30th March 2020. This restriction will also apply to Ogun State,” the President said.

“We will use this containment period to identify, trace and isolate all individuals that have come into contact with confirmed cases,” Buhari said on Sunday during the national address.

“We will ensure the treatment of confirmed cases while restricting further spread to other States.”

The Government has taken several measures aimed at curbing the spread of the coronavirus in the country, including shutting down the country to international flights from any country.
