Abba Atiku Abubakar, son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), signaling a notable political development ahead of future electoral contests.

Abba Atiku was received into the ruling party on Thursday evening in Abuja by the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, and the National Vice Chairman of the APC (North East), Mustafa Salihu.
According to party sources, Abba Atiku Abubakar joined the APC with the objective of mobilising political support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. His defection is seen as significant, given his family’s longstanding association with opposition politics.
Following his decision to join the ruling party, Abba Atiku announced the rebranding of the political movement he founded. The group, originally established in 2022 as the Atiku Haske Organisation, has now been renamed the Haske Bola Tinubu Organisation, reflecting his new political alignment and support for President Tinubu.
APC leaders present at the event welcomed Abba Atiku into the party, describing his decision as a boost to the party’s grassroots mobilisation efforts, particularly in the North East.
The development has continued to generate reactions across Nigeria’s political landscape, coming shortly after public comments by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who described his son’s political choice as a personal decision in line with democratic principles.
