APC Governorship Candidate for Osun State

APC Sets Sights on Regaining Osun State with Strong Mandate

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reaffirmed its commitment to reclaiming Osun State, aiming for a decisive win in the upcoming 2027 general elections. This pledge aligns with the party’s broader strategy to consolidate support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration across the region.

Unity and Consensus Highlight Party’s Strategy

During a ceremony at the APC national secretariat in Abuja, the party’s national chairman, Nentawe Yulwatda, officially presented the certificate of return to Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, the party’s chosen governorship candidate for Osun State. Yulwatda emphasized that Oyebamiji’s unanimous selection underscores the party’s cohesion and collective spirit.

He remarked, “The consensus behind Asiwaju Oyebamiji’s candidacy is a testament to our unity, political maturity, and collaborative effort. Effective leadership is a shared responsibility, even though the ultimate recognition may rest with one individual. Engaging the entire party family is indispensable for success.”

Critique of Current Administration’s Performance

Yulwatda did not hold back in his assessment of the current Osun State government, describing its tenure as marked more by superficial displays than substantive progress. He noted that over the past three years, governance in Osun has often resembled a staged performance, lacking meaningful projects that deliver lasting benefits to the populace.

“The state’s leadership has prioritized image over impact, with few tangible developments that citizens can genuinely appreciate,” he stated. The APC chairman pledged that a victory for his party would shift the focus back to measurable achievements and accountable governance.

Reversing Past Electoral Outcomes in the South-West

Highlighting the significance of Osun State in the political landscape, Yulwatda pointed out that it was the only South-West state where President Tinubu did not secure a win in the previous general election. The APC is determined to change this narrative by mobilizing grassroots support and delivering a convincing mandate in 2027.

“Our resolve is firm to secure a comprehensive victory for both our governorship candidate in Osun and for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the forthcoming elections,” he affirmed.

Looking Ahead: The Road to 2027

With the political climate evolving rapidly, the APC’s strategy in Osun reflects a broader trend of emphasizing unity, accountability, and results-driven leadership. Recent polls indicate growing public demand for transparent governance and development-focused policies, which the party aims to capitalize on.

As the 2027 elections approach, all eyes will be on Osun State as a critical battleground that could influence the political dynamics of the South-West region and Nigeria at large.
