The men of the Lagos State Police have arrested 20 (twenty) suspects over the clash between Okada riders and police officers in Ijora, Olopa, Lagos today.
Earlier on, there was a violent clash between Okada riders who have been banned by the Lagos State Government and men of the Police Force in the area.
Gunshots were fired as a result of the clash between thugs and hoodlums suspected to be the okada riders who were armed with machetes.
The incident occurred at Ijora Oloye, Amusu, Ijora 7up, Ijora Underbridge – and some other areas around Ijora Badia Division. Some of the thugs blocked the roads and prevented vehicular movement in the areas.
A Police spokesperson, Bala, reported that the thugs caused serious obstructions on the roads and burned tires, looted shops and stole from road users.
This prompted the Ijora Badia, Area B Command to deploy men of the Special Strike Force on the thugs and bring the situation under control.
It was after then that the free flow of traffic was restored.
The Police spokesperson said no life was lost to the violence.
According to him, some 20 (twenty) suspects have now been arrested in connection to the crime and would all be charged to court.
