As the world prepares to inaugurate the New Year , the management of Lagos bus service Limited has reassured residents of the State, that it’ll make sure the realisation of its mandate of providing Smart and Sustainable Bus Transportation solutions which will meet the requirements of the commuting populace.
The Managing Director/Chief executive officer of LBSL, Mr. Idowu Oguntona, gave the reassurance during the End-of-The-Year government building meeting with the Agency’s Stakeholders at Lagos Bus Services Limited Headquarters, Ilupeju Depot, Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, Lagos.
He said that although the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic and therefore the #EndSARS protest dealt an excellent blow to the operations of the corporate this year, the corporate had re-strategised to place the incident behind it and work towards the delivery of world-class transportation services in 2021.
He added that the management of the transportation outfit has concluded plans to supply a more conducive environment for its personnel, whereby they’re going to be ready to maintain organisational standards which will ensure staff are liberal to perform their duties without worrying of assault.
The MD/CEO stressed that despite the unprecedented situation caused by the worldwide pandemic and therefore the #EndSARS protests, LBSL was among few establishments within the country still operating with none dramatic reduction in its workforce.
Oguntona maintained that although the COVID-19 made the govt to introduce safety regulations that affected the general public transportation sector adversely, the event doesn’t threaten the commitment of LBSL to Lagosians and its staff.
He added that the corporate has been ready to weather the storm of myriads of challenges it encountered during the year, noting that “One of our biggest successes is that the incontrovertible fact that as a corporation we are still standing whilst, regrettably, numerous companies have folded up.
He advised members of staff, especially the bus drivers, against engaging in acts which will be detrimental to the success of the corporate .
Oguntona warned that LBSL would take very seriously any incident of bad behaviour, underperformance, reckless driving and poor customer relations. In 2021, the corporate won’t hesitate to wield the stick against erring staff.
The director reminded Lagosians to celebrate this season with strict compliance to all or any COVID-19 protocols and implored them to imbibe the culture of using public bus transit, to eliminate traffic gridlock on roads, reduce stress and price of maintaining their vehicles.
