OYOGist.com has learned that Pernille Harder who moved to Chelsea from Wolfsburg has been awarded the UEFA Player of the Year Award to become the first player to be named Europe’s best for a second time.
The most expensive player in the world of football was ranked the best ahead of fellow nominees; Wendie Renard and last year’s winner Lucy Bronze.
Harder was also the recipient of the new award introduced by UEFA to recognise the season’s best women’s player in each position. She was voted ahead of Arsenal’s Vivianne Miedema and Delphine Cascarino of Lyon.
The prolific goalscorer who has an eye for goal netted nine times and also assisted four times as Wolfsburg reached the Champions League final, losing 3-1 to Lyon back in August.
She finished last season as the highest goal scorer in the league with 27 goals, the highest number of goals scored by any player in the competition since 2010.
Although, she plays for Chelsea now she says that she is looking forward to playing Champions League with Chelsea and hopefully winning it in the future.
