Bredan Rodgers gives update on Vardy and Evans injury

Sunday’s marquee Premier League clash pitted Manchester City against Leicester.

The Foxes, on the back of a rather dismal end to the 2019/20 season, have started the current campaign pretty well.

Leicester headed into the City game on the back of two straight victories in the league.

The first 45 at the Etihad though, looked to suggest that their unbeaten start would be drawing to a close in the very near future.

A Jamie Vardy penalty 37 minutes in did see Leicester pull one back to go in level at the break.

But for the most part, Pep Guardiola’s men had completely dominated the first half.

In the second 45, however, Leicester would run riot over Man City, with Jamie Vardy causing the Citizen’s shaky backline all sorts of problems.

And well all was said and done on Sunday, Brendan Rodgers men had come away with a staggering 5-2 victory.

On an otherwise positive evening, though, Leicester did look to have a couple of potential injury concerns.

Jonny Evans, who has just returned from serving a three-match ban, was withdrawn 10 minutes from time and appeared to be in some pain.

Meanwhile, Jamie Vardy was then taken off with five minutes to go after holding his groin and limping somewhat earlier in the tie.

Rodgers has since provided updates on the duo and thankfully for the Leicester faithful, neither injury sounds too serious:

“I think he’s got an ongoing issue with his hip, Jamie, so I think he’ll be fine with a few days’ rest, and he’ll be okay. Jonny felt his calf, tight, just a little bit. So, hopefully that will be okay.”
