Spokesman of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Engineer Akeem Olatunji has said Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State who is also the Chairman of the PDP Campaign Council for the Ondo State governorship election coming up on October 10 will deliver the Sunshine State to the PDP.
The PDP Mouth-piece said Governor Makinde will bring his experience in Edo to bear in the discharge of his duties in Ondo election.
“I am happy that Governor Makinde was part of the success story in Edo. What we want in Ondo is a level playing ground. In Ondo, people should be allowed to vote their conscience not that someone in Abuja or Lagos will hijack the will of the people”
“What happened in Edo was a collective effort of the Governors and it included Governor Wike, Okowa and Governor Seyi Makinde. When the time comes in Ondo, they will all work together”.
When reminded that Governor Makinde did not deliver Kogi State, Olatunji said Ondo and Kogi are two diffferent ball game.
According to him, “if not for Governor Seyi Makinde’s efforts in Kogi State, the PDP would not have had the number of votes it had”. He described the Kogi experience as an eye sore adding that the will and wish of the people were subverted and that the development necessitated the sanctions of the UK and US on Perpetrators.
On the difference between the personality of Wike and Makinde, the Engineer turned Politician noted that “everybody has his own style. Governor Seyi Makinde’s style was part of what worked for the PDP in Edo. Governor Makinde and Wike understand each other and it worked. Same feat will be reciprocated in Ondo”.
He dismissed the insinuation that Governor Makinde is funding Ondo PDP with Oyo resources. “What has changed in Oyo State? Developmental projects are going on in Oyo State and no sector is suffering. Governor Makinde is a prudent Administrator and he knows what he is doing. Where is the money to throw around? Its cheap blackmail from the opposition. Oloye Bayo Adelabu is a member of the the APC Campaign Council for Ondo election, how much has he donated?”.
