OYOGist.com has learned that the executive governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel has approved the appointment of the immediate past minister of Budget Planning, Distinguished Senator Udoma Udo Udoma as the Pro-Chancellor of Akwa Ibom State University, Ikot Akpaden.
This appointment is following the stepping aside of Engr. Samuel E. Inyang, OON, Pro-Chancellor of Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU).
Senator Udoma Udo Udoma was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 as the Minister of Budget and National Planning and the tenure expired in 2019.
Engr. Samuel Edward Inyang was appointed the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council, Akwa Ibom State University on April, 2029 by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel following the expiration of the tenure of the erstwhile Pro-Chancellor and chairman of the governing Council of the University, Obong Engr. Asuquo Udofia. This appointment of Senator Udoma takes immediate effect.
The Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem made this known in a press statement issued earlier today 28 July, 2020.
