According to report reaching OYOGist.com, the Minister of Information and Culture in Nigeria, Lai Mohammed, has come out to debunk rumours flying around the country after it was reported that he ordered the Nigeria Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to suspend the transmission of the ongoing BBNaija show.

This generated lot of criticism from Nigerians on different social media platforms as they were not in support with the decision made by him. However, Lai Mohammed in a statement has now stated that he never gave an order to Nigeria Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to suspend the transmission of the Big Brother Naija show.

This information was made known to the public in a statement by Lai Mohammed’s media aide, Segun Adeyemi.

He stated that there was no memo backing such reports and that the general public should dismiss any reports concerning it. He further stated that if the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, had given an order to the Nigeria Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to stop the show, then there would have been a memo backing up his statement but in this case, there was no memo.

Part of the statement which was shared by Lai Mohammed’s media aide , Segun Adeyemi, read, “The report was not credited to the minister. That statement is not credited to the minister. Like I said earlier, we will not dignify speculative report; if you tune your satellite TV to channel 198, I am sure Big Brother Naija is still airing, contrary to the speculative report that the minister has ordered NBC to suspend the show.”

The Big Brother Naija reality show has got many Nigerians glued to their screen as some of them are really interested in the program.
