A 23-year-old housewife is currently in police custody following a horrifying early-morning attack on her husband while he lay asleep.
According to the Katsina State Police Command, the victim, identified as Jamilu Ibrahim, narrowly escaped death in the early hours of Monday morning.
At around 5:30 a.m., while Ibrahim was still asleep, his young wife allegedly launched a sudden attack against him with a knife, attempting to slit his throat.
Despite the surprise attack, Ibrahim managed to survive, though he sustained a severe, deep laceration to his neck.
He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where medical professionals are currently treating his injuries. Authorities report that he is currently responding well to treatment.
Confirming the incident, the command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, stated that police operatives quickly swung into action. They visited the crime scene, arrested the 23-year-old suspect, and successfully recovered the knife used in the assault.
“The suspect is currently in police custody as investigations continue and will be charged in court upon completion of the investigation,” DSP Sadiq-Aliyu confirmed.
