President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transforming Nigeria’s infrastructure landscape, flagging off two major road projects in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, as part of the government’s ongoing development agenda.

The projects include the construction of the Southern Parkway service carriageways linking Arterial Road S20 to Ring Road II in Gaduwa District and the development of Collector Road CO1 in the Institution and Research District, extending from the Nile University axis to Ring Road III. Represented by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda.

Tinubu described the projects as critical investments aimed at improving mobility, reducing traffic congestion, and supporting economic growth in the nation’s capital.

According to the President, the Southern Parkway is a vital transportation corridor that connects several districts across Abuja and will significantly improve traffic flow for residents of Gaduwa, Gudu, Durumi, Duboyi, and surrounding communities. He noted that the completion of the service carriageways would complement the already commissioned main roadway, known as Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way.

Tinubu also highlighted the importance of the Collector Road CO1 project, describing it as a strategic link that will enhance access to universities, research institutions, legal establishments, and innovation hubs within the Institution and Research District. He said the project aligns with the administration’s vision of building a knowledge-driven economy supported by modern infrastructure.

Speaking at the ceremonies, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike dismissed concerns that infrastructure development might slow as political activities ahead of the 2027 elections gather momentum. He assured residents that the administration remains focused on delivering projects that will continue to reshape Abuja and improve the quality of life for citizens.

Wike revealed that he had secured commitments from contractors handling the projects to ensure timely completion and expressed confidence that Abuja would witness even greater transformation before the end of President Tinubu’s first term. He stressed that ongoing infrastructure projects are part of a deliberate effort to modernize both the city center and satellite communities across the FCT.

The latest road projects form part of a broader infrastructure renewal programme under the Renewed Hope Agenda, which has already delivered several key transportation projects across Abuja and is expected to further boost connectivity, economic activity, and urban development in the Federal Capital Territory.
