Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has applauded the peaceful and orderly conduct of the senatorial by-election held in the state, describing the exercise as a demonstration of the people’s commitment to democracy.
Speaking after casting his vote, the governor expressed satisfaction with the voting process, noting that election officials arrived on time and that voters were able to exercise their civic responsibilities without disruption. He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and other stakeholders for ensuring a credible and peaceful electoral process.
Governor Sule urged eligible voters who had yet to cast their ballots to do so peacefully and encouraged political parties and their supporters to remain calm while awaiting the official results.
He emphasized that democracy thrives when elections are conducted in a transparent and violence-free atmosphere, adding that the success of the by-election reflects the state’s commitment to peaceful political participation.
Security personnel were deployed across polling units to maintain law and order, while election observers monitored the exercise. Reports from various locations indicated that voting proceeded smoothly, although minor logistical challenges were recorded in some areas.
The senatorial by-election was conducted to fill a vacant seat in the National Assembly, with residents expressing optimism that the outcome would reflect the will of the electorate.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s support for democratic institutions and called on all participants to respect the electoral process and maintain peace throughout the collation and declaration of results.
