In what is seen as a first major step towards a breakthrough in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, physicians in the US have begun testing the Covid-19 vaccine on the first human subjects.
Named mRNA-1273, the vaccine was developed by Moderna, a biotechnology company, in partnership with scientists from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) at Kaiser Permanente, Washington USA.
The test patient, Jennifer Haller went through the first-stage safety study – a clinical trial stage that allows drugs to be tested on human subjects before it is released for use by the general public.
Jennifer Haller is 43 years old.
